Is the Paypal ASP.NET component free or ..?

  •  toj336 said 4 years, 6 months ago:

I had a few folks (and other websites) direct me to C1 for their free Paypay ecommerce component in ASP.NET.  When I get to the webpage it says it's free as well.  Then I see it is a trial and the purchase price for the suite is $800?

What gives?  Is it free of just the trial is free??

    Thanks,
    Steve

AFAIK, it's just a trial version, if you want a full version of it you need to buy one.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Wow. If that's true, then the description of the control on this site has to be one of most misleading I have ever seen:

Easily turn your Web site into an e-commerce enabled store with ComponentOne PayPal eCommerce™ for ASP.NET. We give you free eCommerce controls that provide real-time credit card processing for your Web sites and apps. Instantly create a merchant account with PayPal in minutes!

In order to use free PayPal eCommerce for ASP.NET controls, you must have a PayPal merchant account. You can set one up for free at http://www.paypal.com/. There are no monthly fees; PayPal charges per transaction, visit http://www.paypal.com/ for fees and complete details.

PayPal eCommerce for ASP.NET is FREE

PayPal controls are free and do not require a license. You are only required to register at http://www.componentone.com. After registering, you can install and use the controls on as many machines as you want.

Sure sounds free to me??  They say it 4 times in 4 paragraphs!  Yikes.

    Hello,

PayPal for ASP.NET is free.  The only thing you are required to do is register online.  There is no trial version then 'licensed' version to purchase, it is entirely free.

Please let me know if you are interested and I'll be sure to get you the files needed.

    Thanks,

     -Steve
